About The Position

Spectrum Resource Group (SRG), a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, Spectrum Resource Group is an integrated vegetation management (IVM) solutions provider with expertise in vegetation management, forest management, and reforestation. We provide these services to federal, provincial, regional, local and Indigenous governments, to the forestry, energy, mines, petroleum, transportation and utility sectors, and to numerous regional invasive species organizations across Canada.

Requirements

  • Previous forestry, forest health, environmental, vegetation management, or natural resource field experience is preferred.
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field.
  • The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time.
  • Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs.
  • A safety conscious attitude.
  • A love of the outdoors.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset.
  • Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset.
  • Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid SK Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forest health surveys to identify insect and disease damage, assess tree condition, and support field-based monitoring programs.
  • Complete plot assessments, regeneration surveys, and other field measurements.
  • Identify signs of pests, diseases, and other environmental stressors that could affect forest health.
  • Assist with pheromone trap setup, monitoring, collection, and related insect survey work as required.
  • Support Mountain Pine Beetle and other bark beetle surveys.
  • Collect plot samples for insect, disease, defoliator, and other forest health assessments.
  • Record accurate field notes and complete standardized data forms consistently.
  • Use specialized equipment (e.g., diameter tapes, increment borers, GPS devices, and mapping tools) to collect precise measurements.
  • Organize, review, and submit field data to support quality control, reporting, and mapping.
  • Work safely in remote and wilderness settings.
  • Operate field vehicles, ATVs, GPS units, tablets, radios, and other equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform physically demanding work in rough terrain, varying weather, and remote locations, including travel away from home.
  • Other duties as required.
