About The Position

The City of Eagan is seeking enthusiastic individuals from all backgrounds and experience levels to join its seasonal Forestry and Landscape Crew. This hands-on role involves beautifying Eagan's parks through tree planting, landscape maintenance, and invasive plant management. It offers opportunities for growth, skill development, experience with various equipment, and contribution to the city's green spaces. Training, uniforms, tools, and equipment are provided.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older by the first date of employment.
Valid Driver's License.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and turn.
Use of fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
Ability to work in all weather conditions experienced throughout the summer months.
Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers.

Responsibilities

Perform various landscaping and maintenance activities in Eagan's 61 Parks.
Plant trees, shrubs, perennials, and native grasses.
Maintain landscape beds and gardens.
Perform irrigation and fertilization.
Apply mulch.
Manage invasive plants and identify/control weeds.
Learn to use landscape power equipment (roto-tiller, sod cutter, edger, hedge trimmer, etc.).
Assist the City tree crew in cleaning up diseased and hazardous trees, tree trimming, pruning, and brush removal.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Follow work direction and communicate concerns to the supervisor.
Maintain tools and equipment.
Perform miscellaneous tasks related to City forestry and park operations.
