Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student
• Pursuing a degree in Forestry, Forest Management, Forest Engineering, Natural Resources, or a closely related field
• Available for a 10- to 12-week summer internship
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Willing to travel as required by the assignment
• Provide reliable personal transportation
• Have access to a four-wheel-drive vehicle and be able to safely navigate forest roads
• Comfortable working independently in remote outdoor locations
• Able to work in varying weather and field conditions, including heat, rain, and uneven terrain

Responsibilities

• Conducting field measurements using forestry tools and data recorders
• Completing field reconnaissance, mapping, and timber inventory assignments
• Supporting timber market research and analysis
• Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
• Assisting with timber sales and silvicultural planning
• Supporting additional forestry projects as assigned
• Installing and monumenting research trials
• Supporting seed orchard activities
• Collecting DNA samples
• Assisting with greenhouse operations and research seedling production
• Conducting mapping and other research activities using GIS
• Supporting additional forestry research projects as assigned
