About The Position

This is a summer internship position at Maine Woodlands, a division of Irving Woodlands, LLC. The internship is a temporary, full-time role designed to provide students with a challenging and rewarding work experience in the growing forest industry. Interns will gain hands-on experience in forest management, learn about new technologies, and develop leadership and business skills. The duration of the internship is from mid-May to mid-August.

Requirements

Completion of 1st year of post-secondary education and in good academic standing

Responsibilities

Navigate effectively across a large land base utilizing provided tools (Avenza, Field Maps)
Manage an efficient operation, including managing people to meet quality and productivity standards
Understand Northeastern forests and silviculture practices
Gain an understanding of industrial forestry practices
Think critically and problem solve
Report any safety concerns through appropriate channels
Coordinate logistics and seedling delivery (Planting)
Coordinate with contractors to ensure a steady flow of work for crews (work orders, site surveying, inventory) (Planting)
Monitor productivity of crews (Planting)
Inspecting quality of thinned blocks (Thinning)
Post Operation Inventory of Stand to update land base inventory (Thinning)
