About The Position

As a Forest Technician with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, you have the opportunity to help improve wildlife habitat in the Southwest Region. This role lets you work outdoors while supporting important conservation efforts across State Game Lands. You will be part of a team that values stewardship and hands-on fieldwork. Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in forest technology; or Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of required training for wildland and prescribed fire certification.

Responsibilities

  • Survey boundaries, identify trees, and compute timber volumes according to the forester's instructions
  • Assist with gathering and entering stand data, sale layout information, and other forestry observations
  • Collect GPS data and produce maps that support habitat management decisions
  • Support herbicide applications and maintain tools and equipment used in forest habitat work
  • Assist with wildland and prescribed fire activities and complete required training for certification
