About The Position
As a Forest Technician with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, you have the opportunity to help improve wildlife habitat in the Southwest Region. Requirements
- An associate’s degree in forest technology; or Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of required training for wildland and prescribed fire certification.
Responsibilities
- Survey boundaries, identify trees, and compute timber volumes according to the forester's instructions
- Assist with gathering and entering stand data, sale layout information, and other forestry observations
- Collect GPS data and produce maps that support habitat management decisions
- Support herbicide applications and maintain tools and equipment used in forest habitat work
- Assist with wildland and prescribed fire activities and complete required training for certification
