The Department of Public Safety’s mission is to enhance the safety and security of all Arkansans through ethical, character-driven behavior that promotes professionalism, clear communication, and accountability while serving as the state’s premier public safety agency. This position will function as an ME Evidence Technician and is a critical full-time role responsible for ensuring the integrity and continuity of all evidence associated with autopsy operations. This position manages the entry and documentation of property/evidence, toxicology specimens, DNA evidence, and all other materials requiring evidentiary processing. This role is solely responsible for preparing, packaging, and submitting evidence to originating agencies, internal laboratory sections, and external laboratories in strict adherence to chain-of-custody standards. The technician also enters and submits specialized testing requests while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accreditation and legal requirements. These duties require a dedicated individual capable of managing a high-volume workload and upholding the agency's standards for evidence handling. The Forensic Technician plays a critical role in supporting forensic investigations by collecting, processing, and analyzing evidence under the guidance of forensic scientists, forensic pathologists, and law enforcement personnel. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and excellent organizational skills to ensure accurate handling and documentation of evidence.
