The Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory in Central Point, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Forensic Scientist position. The forensic scientist in this position will be performing technical and scientific functions as they relate to the Criminal Justice System and in accordance with the policies of the Department of State Police, Forensic Services Division, accreditation procedures, and laws of the State of Oregon. This role involves applying objective, scientific, and critical thinking skills to independently plan and problem solve challenges related to casework in the Chemistry and Crime Scene/Field Investigation disciplines, which meets the quality standards of the Division. Responsibilities include responding to crime scenes, performing independent casework, and analyzing evidence accurately and timely. The position also requires preparing and maintaining accurate records, managing assigned caseloads, and providing credible sworn testimony in legal proceedings. Additionally, the role involves preparing necessary reagents, standards, and controls, and providing or receiving training. The successful candidate will complete at least one proficiency test per year for each forensic discipline performed and may assume added responsibilities as authorized.
