The City of Chandler Police Department’s Forensic Services Division is hiring a Forensic Science Assistant Senior. This full-time, non-exempt position provides laboratory support, including ten-print analysis. Senior assistants may handle evidence and process latent prints, assist forensic staff by preparing reagents, samples, and solutions, collect latent-print evidence, provide expert testimony, and maintain forensic case files, safety documents, laboratory documents, and logs. Other duties include ordering, stocking, and distributing laboratory supplies; processing financial transactions; maintaining and monitoring laboratory equipment; and processing fingerprint records into the Arizona Automated Biometric Identification System. The position follows a standard day-shift schedule with a start time between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. After training, employees may choose a 5x8 or 4x10 schedule. Work is performed under the supervision of a civilian supervisor or manager, and the position does not supervise others. The City conducts a pre-employment background check; hiring is contingent on acceptable results, and fingerprinting with successful results is required to continue employment. Certain city positions require a pre-employment drug test, and recreational marijuana use violates the City’s Drug Free Workplace Policy. Applicants must meet the general qualifications for the position as well as the additional education and experience requirements for the senior level. The City’s selection process may include a NeoGov application, oral board interview, background interview, and interview with the Chief of Police. The register of qualified candidates will remain active for six months in case another position becomes available.
