About The Position

Forensic Health Services (FHS), a Centurion company, provides forensic mental health services to the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. The FHS team offers adult court clinic services to various Massachusetts Trial and Superior Courts. This full-time Forensic Psychologist position will cover Lynn District Court in Lynn, MA, and Haverhill District Court in Haverhill, MA. The role involves providing consultation to the court and conducting statutory evaluations for individuals with mental illness and substance misuse concerns involved in criminal and civil matters. FHS Forensic Psychologists fulfill statutory obligations under MGL c. 123, including evaluations for emergency hospitalization, competence to stand trial, criminal responsibility screening, prisoner mental condition, witness mental condition, commitment of substance abusers, and aid in sentencing.

Requirements

  • Active licensed Psychologist by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe (e.g. having passed the EPPP, or holding a Psychology license in another state).
  • Designated Forensic Professional (DFP) or ability to obtain.
  • Current/valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with court-involved criminal defendants preferred.
  • Multilingual candidates encouraged to apply; Spanish, Portuguese and Russian are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to the court.
  • Facilitate statutory evaluations for individuals with mental illness and substance misuse concerns.
  • Conduct Evaluation of the Need for Emergency Hospitalization.
  • Conduct Competence to Stand Trial or Criminal Responsibility Screening Evaluations.
  • Conduct Evaluation of the Need for Hospitalization of Mentally-Ill Prisoners.
  • Determine the Mental Condition of Witnesses.
  • Conduct Evaluation of the Need for Commitment of Substance Abusers.
  • Aid in Sentencing Evaluations.
