Forensic Peer Counselors working as part of the Diversion Team use their own lived experience with mental health or substance use treatment to help support & motivate clients who are currently involved with the criminal justice system. The Forensic Peer Counselor connects with individuals who have legal involvement either through incarceration, involvement with pre-trial services, probation, or frequent contact with law enforcement. The Forensic Peer Support Counselor will work with individuals to assist them in transitioning out of incarceration into community-based treatment services and assist with identifying and addressing perceived barriers and provide support. Forensic Peer Counselors assist clients with developing independent living skills, coping skills, community adjustment skills, and self-advocacy. This position is best suited for someone who is ready to use their own experiences to support others and is willing to travel locally each day. The schedule for this role is Sunday-Wednesday 8am-7pm.
