Pathways Vermont is hiring a Forensic Peer Specialist for its Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) team, an evidence-based forensic adaptation of Assertive Community Treatment. Based in Chittenden County, Vermont, the interdisciplinary team supports 40–60 people under Department of Corrections supervision in collaboration with Burlington Probation and Parole. FACT combines criminogenic risk management with mental health and substance use support, and aims to reduce returns to incarceration and crisis-service use while improving treatment engagement, community stability, and social determinants such as employment, housing, and social connection. The Forensic Peer Specialist draws on lived experience of incarceration, criminal justice involvement, and/or supervision to support people transitioning from incarceration into the community. The role provides flexible, compassionate, community-based support to promote stability, recovery, and community reintegration. The position is in person in Chittenden County and is full time, 35–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The employee also participates in a 24/7 on-call phone rotation. Annual staff and programmatic retreats are held during normal work hours and are paid. Pathways Vermont provides community-based mental health services and collaborative learning that centers people as experts in their own lives. The organization emphasizes lived experience and seeks a diverse workplace reflecting the communities it serves.
