About The Position
Lake Behavioral Hospital is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their Restoration team. In this role, you will provide continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across various age groups. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to creating a therapeutic environment that fosters patient support and well-being. This is a crucial role in ensuring a positive treatment experience for a diverse patient population.
Requirements
- One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness, is preferred.
- May be required to work overtime and flexible hours
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or Certified Nursing Assistant
- Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
Responsibilities
- Accurately record vital signs
- Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN
- Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision
- Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
- Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
- Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.
