About The Position

Incumbents provide support to scientific staff in the forensic laboratory, including maintaining the inventory of chemicals, forensic kits, scientific materials and supplies, and references; prepare chemical solutions and reagents; and perform quality control on equipment and reagents.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 14 passing semester college-level credits in a chemical, physical, or biological science, or a forensic science related field.
  • Applicants MUST attach a copy of their LEGIBLE transcript(s) which demonstrates proof of educational requirements, to their application at the time of submission.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nevada driver license.
  • Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
  • Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of full-time work experience in a scientific laboratory environment maintaining and/or operating basic laboratory equipment and using basic laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
  • Experience and proficiency in various Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience identifying and resolving discrepancies/anomalies in a professional work setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent work ethic.
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize assignments.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and accept constructive criticism.

Benefits

  • The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement.
  • All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.
