The Forensic Interview Specialist (FIS) provides forensic interview services to alleged child abuse victims, child witnesses to violent crimes, and developmentally delayed adult victims of sexual assault. The role is responsible for interviewing alleged victims of maltreatment in an emotionally sensitive, developmentally appropriate, and forensically sound manner. The FIS acquires vital detailed information from the alleged victim which is utilized in criminal, juvenile, and family court arenas. This role facilitates a multidisciplinary (MDT) approach to the investigative process through meeting with involved parties prior to and after the interview, as well as facilitating information sharing with MDT members. Interviews are performed at the request of Law Enforcement, Children & Family Services, and/or other agencies that are responsible for investigating allegations of abuse to these vulnerable populations. The FIS provides expert opinion and testifies in a court of law regarding allegations of abuse. Performs other duties as needed.
