About The Position

This role is for a Forensic Counselor within a specialized Forensic Unit, working with moderate and high-risk individuals on probation through the Hancock County Common Pleas Court, Findlay Municipal Court, and the Ohio State Parole Authority. The position requires regular use of various computer applications, including Microsoft Office, HRIS, EHR, and other online systems, often requiring multiple simultaneous logins. A valid Ohio driver's license, CPR/First Aid Certification, and willingness to submit to a background check and fingerprinting are necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a Master's Degree in Counseling.
  • LSW / LPC or higher credential.
  • Education emphasis in social work, SUD, Psychology or Criminal Justice.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications including Microsoft Office, HRIS, EHR and other online systems.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Willingness to submit to background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement evidence-based interventions under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Complete diagnostic assessments and Intervention in Lieu assessments for court-involved clients.
  • Generate case/progress notes each time an offender participates in an individual or group intervention with the Forensic Team and provide copies to the assigned supervising probation officer.
  • Coordinate the submission of monthly reports summarizing offender participation in the specialized criminal justice program and other treatment services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to enhance professional skills, including Ohio Risk Assessment Certification, Thinking for a Change, University of Cincinnati Substance Abuse Curriculum, EPICS I or II, Motivational Interviewing, and Cross-training to Common Pleas and Municipal Court Systems.
  • Participate in 24 hours of continuing education annually in Changing Offender Behavior.
