About The Position

Speers Construction Inc. is a rapidly growing civil construction company in Revelstoke, BC, that is part of Jim Dent Construction. To achieve this goal, we are looking for people who share our company values. We are currently looking for a Foreman. The successful candidate will be an individual with strong communication skills and industry knowledge. They will be able to adapt well under pressure, be self-motivated and take direction well. A team approach is mandatory and will require an open-minded and adaptable work ethic. The Civil General Foreman is a role that works collaboratively with the Superintendent and Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the project. This position must have a strong understanding of earthworks, general civil, and both shallow and deep utilities. They must be able to engage a team as a leader but also take direction. They have a proven ability to work with and delegate to other roles. Their experience and industry knowledge will contribute to the ongoing management of the project ensuring deliverables are met.

  • High degree of comfort with all paperwork, and proficient in digital technology required in managing a job site and regulatory requirements.
  • Working understanding of Provincial environmental and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Proficient in site lay out from survey stakes.
  • 5+ years experience in Civil Construction specifically in utility infrastructure.
  • Able to work shift work and on remote job sites across BC.
  • Class 5 license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in GPS machine control and use of rover, base stations etc.
  • Advanced operator of all earth-moving equipment.
  • Gold Seal certified.
  • First aid trained.
  • Pipe fusing certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the project.
  • Make decisions and direct crew on daily activities.
  • Creation, maintenance, and management of project schedule.
  • Engage a team, and delegate.
  • Participate and contribute to meetings with all stakeholders and managers of the project.
  • Manage all paperwork and proficient in digital technology required in managing a job site and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively and strategically think to reduce any risks in safety, environment, and performance.
  • Solve problems in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Work with and delegate to other roles.
  • Ensure deliverables are met.
