About The Position

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a utility Foreman to lead a 2–5 person crew performing tree pruning and removal for major electric utility providers. The work includes utility line clearance and is performed outdoors at job sites. The Foreman plans and inspects work, operates and maintains equipment, and mentors and trains employees. Travel expectations are up to 100%. This is a permanent, full-time, onsite position.

Requirements

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses upon hire.
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Manual climbing knowledge and climbing experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B, without an air brake restriction.
• Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
• ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2–5 person tree crew in safely and skillfully performing tree pruning and removal services for major electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees through trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines.
• Perform job-site inspections and properly plan and execute assigned work and tasks.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Mentor and train new employees.
