About The Position

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts. Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to Foreman new hires. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree ORApprentice Certification ORHigh School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience ORAssociate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
  • US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of machine shop processes including but not limited to, small turning, and milling both manual and CNC.
  • Electronic discharge machining both wire, and plunge.
  • In depth knowledge of CNC machining G-code on various control types, tooling, and machining process improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as an in-depth knowledge and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate goals, and expectations to their team.
