About The Position
The Foreman supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel based on their skills, experience, and job knowledge. The role trains and develops employees to improve the quality and quantity of their work, recommends training to enhance skills and productivity, and assists in developing training procedures. The Foreman translates broad strategies into practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to carry them out. The position is responsible for compliance with technical requirements, including drawings and procedures, and oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations with significant financial impact on company performance. The Foreman supervises qualified trades staff and monitors job and budget performance across all shifts. Newport News Shipbuilding offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus to eligible Foreman new hires, including current Newport News Shipbuilding employees.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Meet one of the following education and experience pathways: a bachelor's degree; apprentice certification; a high school education plus four years of combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience; or an associate degree in a trade/technical field plus three years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade, and/or military experience.
