About The Position

As a key participant in the relationship with the company, other contractors, and the client, the lead foreman is the second management level and has a further role as a coordinating manager and client interface. The lead foreman coordinates the crew and must understand and consistently apply the general contractors’ policies. The lead foreman is required to be involved and supportive of any day-to-day disciplinary decisions. The lead foreman is accountable for following project plans and schedules and ensuring that crews under his/her direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals. The lead foreman must champion an inclusive employee relations culture, is accountable for the adherence to policies and procedures by the crew to ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment. The lead foreman is accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all layout and ensure accuracy based on most current drawings, addendum and ASI’s.
  • Monitor and report productivity of hourly and sub-contractors daily to Superintendent. Ensure productivity is meeting or exceeding projected goals.
  • Report all potential cost and schedule impacts to Superintendent daily.
  • Maintain and communicate 2-week project look ahead with superintendent.
  • Proactively monitor material needs to ensure correct amounts are on hand to minimize project delays.
  • Proactively monitor equipment use and needs and communicate with shop to minimize project delays.
  • Knowing, understanding, communicating, and ensuring compliance with both OHSA and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate mandatory safety toolbox meetings.
  • Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments.
  • Participating in safety/incident investigations.
  • Ensuring that vehicle and equipment checks are carried out.
  • Communicating the job to and with the crew.
  • Assigning crew tasks during start of day 5-minute daily huddle.
  • Addressing and resolving issues and problems among crew members.
  • Reporting unresolved personnel issues to superintendent timely.
  • Ensuring crew compliance with project policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring crew compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Promoting, supporting, and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all crew members.
  • On-lead assessment prior to commencing work to ensure that the job is ready and addressing any concerns.
  • Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that the crew works to job specifications and follows the plans.
  • Inspecting and measuring completed work.
  • Daily time keeping & reporting through hrHQ & WorkMax.
  • Complete field work orders and obtain site superintendent signatures and submit to project team.
  • Worker violation reports.
  • Recommending personnel actions such as hiring, releasing, promotions and discipline.
  • Manage field labor which may include both BMI employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work. Communicate with BMI superintendent that the subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling.
  • All other duties as assigned.
