About The Position
Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is hiring a CDL Foreman/Foreperson to provide crew supervision and utility line-clearance and tree-trimming services for major electric utility providers. The role involves directing crew members and equipment, planning and completing assigned work, and supervising and assisting with the proper maintenance, preparation, and operation of tools and equipment. The foreman works as part of a crew with Groundmen and Trimmer/Climbers and must be able to perform the described line-clearance duties. Services include pruning treetops; repairing damaged trees through trimming or removal; and removing broken limbs from wires, roofs, and other objects. The position is permanent and full-time, based onsite in Warwick, Rhode Island, with travel expectations of up to 25%.
Requirements
- Commercial driver's license with airbrake endorsement.
- Electric utility tree-trimming and climbing experience.
- Ability to perform the described job functions.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Pesticide license if required by state law.
- Herbicide license is a plus.
- Line-clearance certification if working near utility transmission lines.
- ISA Certified Tree Worker certification or willingness to obtain it.
Responsibilities
- Supervise crews providing utility line-clearance and tree-trimming services for major electric utility providers.
- Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removing them.
- Remove broken limbs from wires, roofs, and other objects.
- Direct crew members and equipment, and plan and execute assigned work and tasks.
- Supervise and assist with the proper maintenance, preparation, and operation of hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Work as part of a crew with Groundmen and Trimmer/Climbers.
- Perform the line-clearance and tree-trimming functions described for the position.
