About The Position

Valtir is currently looking to hire a Foreman for our Fort Worth, TX plant. Valtir has been an industry leader and global supplier of highway safety products for over 50 years. Our products are specified, sold, and installed throughout North America and in more than 100 international markets. Under the direction of the appropriate manager, the Foreman is responsible for the supervision and performance of the department personnel assigned and determination of job priorities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Two or more years advanced education with emphasis in manufacturing or engineering and prior experience in a supervisory position in the appropriate field required.
  • Substitute qualifications for the above will be a minimum of three years as a manufacturing supervisor and five years involvement in industrial manufacturing in the appropriate field.
  • Communicate using verbal and/or written instruction
  • Perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) read, understand and explain technical product drawings
  • Comprehend hazardous material warning labels and instructions, and plant safety rules,
  • Must use all personal safety equipment use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indictors, etc.).
  • Work scheduled shift hours, including overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all department personnel assigned and conduct periodic performance reviews. Make recommendations concerning employee promotions and transfers.
  • Ensure that all assigned employees are following all safety guidelines and that all equipment in use meets all safety standards. Investigate accidents promptly. Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure quality levels meet or exceed specified requirements on all parts produced and/and or shipped.
  • Enforce all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and render appropriate discipline when required.
  • Determine and adjust job priorities in assigned department based on production control schedules. Plan and schedule required manpower as necessary to complete assigned work on time. Issue daily work assignments. Monitor employee productivity levels and take corrective action when levels are not up to expectations.
  • Participate in programs such as cost reduction methods, quality improvement, LEAN, communications, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Ensure production and inventory information is reported accurately and timely.
  • Oversee skill training for new employees and current employees learning new tasks or skills.
  • Continually strive for improved employee morale and performance. Encourage and assist in implementing approved employee suggestions.
  • Interview candidates and make recommendations for filling vacant positions.
  • Seek out opportunities for process improvement. Maintain neat and orderly facilities and work areas.
  • Issue purchase requisitions in a timely manner to maintain appropriate level of department supply items.
  • Exercise cost control and promote cost consciousness.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as designated by supervisor.
