Foreman is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands. This role involves working safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized and de-energized electrical transmission systems. The Foreman is responsible for coaching crew members, possessing a working knowledge of leadership and management skills, and leading and training lower-skilled employees in safe and productive work procedures, including hot stick work on energized lines. The role requires conducting pre-job or tailgate briefings and having a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of line work, including stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, installing various electrical components, and troubleshooting primary and secondary systems. The Foreman frequently works with energized high voltage systems, requiring skill and care to ensure safety. Responsibilities also include maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools, performing rigorous physical labor, identifying voltages, understanding induced voltage, properly sagging wire, phasing circuits through substations, identifying puller and tensioner setups, understanding grounding procedures, working at heights and in confined spaces, properly installing and removing PPE and cover-up, climbing structures, safely operating equipment, phasing out lines, planning safe work based on job prints, obtaining one-shots on reclosers, safely performing reconductoring jobs, installing and removing mechanical jumpers, using load bust tools, requesting and taking line clearances, understanding flag and tag procedures, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
