About The Position

The Superintendent/Foreman manages the daily site activities by ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule. The Superintendent/Foreman directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site. This role involves daily communication with General Superintendents, job site crews, and subcontractors to ensure project timelines, workforce needs, and subcontractor agreements are met. A key aspect of this position is maintaining a safe working environment by identifying hazards, ensuring employees are up-to-date on safety procedures, and conducting daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings. The role also includes comprehensive record keeping, fair management of field personnel, addressing performance issues, participating in pre-construction and job site meetings, and ensuring all work adheres to specified quality standards. The Superintendent/Foreman will also respond to inquiries from customers and regulatory agencies, participate in ongoing training, and keep their supervisor informed of any potential issues affecting project success or company operations.

Requirements

Two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OSHA 30 hour certification.
HAZWOPER certificate.
Excavating Safety Training.
Blueprint Training.
CPR certification.
First Aid certification.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, plans, specifications, and legal documents.
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel spreadsheets, iPad and iPhone.
Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately.
Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors and other business associates.
Must clearly communicate directions and information.
Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals.
Must have good interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical field quantity situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must possess the ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Must be over the age of 18.
Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
Must possess valid driver’s license and ability to maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

Responsibilities

Manages daily site activities to ensure construction aligns with safety, design, budget, and schedule.
Directly manages lead personnel and staff on each project site.
Communicates daily with General Superintendents regarding workforce and equipment requirements.
Contacts job site crews daily to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are met.
Schedules subcontractors and monitors their work for completion per agreement.
Maintains a safe working environment by identifying hazards and taking corrective action.
Ensures employees have up-to-date safety information.
Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics.
Completes daily record keeping including logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and time cards.
Manages field personnel fairly and equitably in accordance with company policies and laws.
Addresses staff performance issues as they occur.
Participates in pre-construction meetings and regular job site meetings.
Provides timely and accurate documentation for safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries.
Ensures all work follows specified quality standards and inspects field work and materials for quality compliance.
Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
Participates in training for construction methods and safety, and supports training for staff.
Keeps supervisor informed of actions that may affect assignment performance or company operations.
