About The Position
The position consists of specializing in the lifting and moving of extremely large or heavy objects. This position will be responsible for a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers. The crew will be a mix of journeyman, helpers, and laborers.
Requirements
- Must have experience in rigging
- Must be able to obtain Zachry ETS signaling certification.
- Must have experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
- Must have reliable transportation
- Organization and time management
- Must have good problem-solving abilities
- Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity
- Good reading comprehension
- Ability to work with others – team player including good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors
- Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations
- Must have knowledge of crane signals, operating a torch, and operate a plasma cutter

- Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical or trade school such as NCCER Certification or NCCCO in rigging.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates the activity with craft workers to ensure that work is done safely, correctly and in a timely manner
- Use knowledge and understanding of the technical installation requirements for the work under his/her supervision, to include drawings, specifications, procedures, and codes
- Follows direction from supervisor
- Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved
- Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps
- Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook
- Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material
- Inspect and repair all components of boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment
- Follow direction from Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
