About The Position

This position will be responsible for a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers. The crew will be a mix of journeyman, helpers, and laborers. The Foreman Reinforced Ironworker will read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required. They will identify all tools and safety risks associated with the tasks, and fabricate equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors. The role involves hoisting equipment and tools into location via bull rigging or crane, and positioning and securing equipment such as rebar and mesh using various tools and methods. Cutting, bending, and welding iron/steel pieces will also be a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Must have 4+ years’ experience as a Reinforcing Ironworker.
  • Must have 1+ years’ experience as a supervisor.
  • Must be proficient in managing a crew, time, and costs.
  • Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to read prints and drawings.
  • Must have a working knowledge of rebar including to but not limited to size, material, quantities and other specifications to meet the requirements as stated on the prints and drawings.
  • Must have a working knowledge of all tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
  • Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
  • National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Formal/Technical education.
  • Experience working with rebar, concrete and carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Identify all tools required for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
  • Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Hoist equipment and tools into a location via bull rigging or crane.
  • Position and secure equipment such as rebar, mesh, end caps using bending machines, hand tools, fasteners and other metal working methods and tools.
  • Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, bending tools and welding equipment.
  • Manage a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers (journeymen, helpers, and laborers).
  • Manage time and costs effectively.
