The Foreman is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. This position works at various locations and may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands. Essential functions include working safely on energized and de-energized overhead work, coaching crew members, possessing leadership and management skills, and leading and training lower skilled employees in safe and productive work procedures, including hot stick work on energized lines. The role involves conducting pre-job briefings, stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, installing various electrical components like transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. The Foreman troubleshoots problems in primary and secondary systems, replaces fuses, clears faulted circuits, and frequently works with energized high voltage systems. Responsibilities also include maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools, performing rigorous physical labor, identifying primary and secondary voltage, understanding induced voltage, properly sagging wire, phasing circuits, identifying puller and tensioner setups, understanding grounding procedures, working at heights and/or confined spaces, properly installing and removing PPE and cover up, climbing structures, safely operating equipment, phasing out lines, planning safe work, obtaining recloser one-shots, safely performing reconductoring jobs, gloving/working live high voltage distribution power lines, safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers, using load bust tools, taking line clearances, and understanding line protection devices and flag and tag procedures. The position requires working outside, frequently in inclement weather, and performing all other related work as required.
