About The Position

Gabe's is seeking a Foreman, HDD to oversee, manage, and monitor operations at assigned jobsites. This role involves managing work plans, schedules, quality, safety, client interactions, and overall job performance, all while upholding the company's strategic vision and core values of Relationships Matter, Thick Skin, Soft Hearts, Stay Curious, Purpose = Progress, and Be a Tunnel Visionary. The Foreman will ensure operations are conducted with the highest level of ethics, integrity, and excellence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a foreman in HDD construction.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass company-required background, drug, alcohol, and safety screening.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication and reporting abilities.
  • Strong decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage HDD crews of varying sizes.
  • Ability to travel to jobsites and work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of utility locating, excavation safety, traffic control, and HDD operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee horizontal directional drilling operations, including bore planning, setup, drilling, pullback, and restoration activities.
  • Coordinate locating, potholing/daylighting, utility verification, and bore path confirmation before drilling.
  • Monitor drilling fluids, tooling, equipment condition, production rates, and bore progress.
  • Ensure proper use of drill rigs, locating equipment, vacuum excavation equipment, trucks, trailers, and support equipment.
  • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of the crew.
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities to workers and tradespeople.
  • Ensure crews have the tools, equipment, materials, and information needed to complete assigned work.
  • Verify jobsite conditions, permits, traffic control, utility markings, and restoration requirements before work begins.
  • Conduct or participate in daily job briefings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses.
  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, customer requirements, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure crews use proper PPE and follow safe excavation, drilling, traffic control, and equipment procedures.
  • Report incidents, near misses, damages, injuries, utility strikes, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Supervise and train workers to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment condition and coordinate maintenance or repairs.
  • Ensure company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment are used properly and secured.
  • Manage material deliveries, inventory, and jobsite staging.
  • Monitor labor, equipment, material usage, production, and field conditions to support project budget and schedule goals.
  • Maintain a professional jobsite and communicate respectfully with property owners, customers, inspectors, and the public.
  • Coordinate jobsite access, restoration expectations, schedule impacts, and field issues.
  • Identify and resolve field issues in a timely manner; escalate safety, quality, production, customer, utility, or cost concerns to management as appropriate.
