About The Position

This position is responsible for planning and managing production and safety on the project. The Foreman - Grade Operator will supervise grade crews in a heavy/highway/bridge construction environment, review construction plans to determine design and specifications, and assist project management in ensuring all work meets project specifications. This role also involves maintaining accurate reporting of materials use and time reporting for the crew.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years or more of industry related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges
  • All work is performed outdoors in all types of weather, including extreme heat
  • Job requires long hours of standing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, squatting and walking
  • Ability to lift 0 to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Maintain constant awareness of the jobsite’s various concurrent activities, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment

Responsibilities

  • Planning and managing production and safety on the project
  • Leading and delegating work within work scope
  • Supervising grade crews in a heavy/highway/bridge construction environment
  • Reviewing construction plans to determine design and specifications
  • Assisting project management in ensuring that all work meets project specifications
  • Maintaining accurate reporting of materials use and time reporting for the crew
  • Operating power driven grading machine
  • Manipulating hand controls to guide machine
  • Setting depth and angle of grading blade to perform finished work such as scraping and leveling dirt on highways and finishing sub grades for roads and the finished grading of road base materials
  • Balancing and rough shaping base course materials
  • Fine grading horizontal surfaces, shoulders and slopes
  • Understanding grading plan requirements and setting grading standards; dressing of shoulders and slopes
  • Training other crew members
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order; notify supervisor if equipment needs repair
