About The Position

The Fabrication Foreman provides daily leadership and oversight of fabrication operations, serving as the link between hands-on production and department leadership. This position is responsible for coordinating the work of Welders, Fabricators, and Machine Operators while ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. The Fabrication Foreman will utilize strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, machinery, materials, and equipment to troubleshoot issues, support employees, and maintain an efficient workflow. This position is expected to lead by example, promote accountability, and continuously look for opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Previous experience in a fabrication, welding, manufacturing, or industrial production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Fabrication Foreman or Lead experience.
  • Experience supervising welders and fabricators.
  • Experience with lasers, press brakes, waterjets, saws, benders, and other fabrication equipment.
  • OSHA certification or documented safety training.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Welding certification or formal welding/fabrication training.
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing, generator manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, coach, and supervise fabrication employees to promote productivity, quality, safety, and accountability.
  • Assign daily work and coordinate crew activities based on production schedules, priorities, and available resources.
  • Monitor production progress and communicate delays, staffing needs, material shortages, or operational issues to the Production Manager.
  • Ensure employees follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, PPE requirements, and established work procedures.
  • Promote a safe work environment by identifying hazards, correcting unsafe practices, and reinforcing proper equipment and PPE usage.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, forming, bending, grinding, and material handling.
  • Maintain knowledge of fabrication equipment, including lasers, press brakes, saws, benders, waterjets, welding equipment, and other related machinery.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, diagrams, specifications, dimensions, and work instructions.
  • Ensure fabricated components are produced according to drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and established quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication, equipment, and production issues and coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, or other departments as needed.
  • Monitor equipment condition and communicate maintenance or repair needs to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve fabrication issues and ensure product specifications are met.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new employees and provide ongoing technical guidance and support.
  • Inspect work throughout the fabrication process to identify defects, dimensional issues, or quality concerns.
  • Ensure proper material usage and minimize scrap and rework.
  • Complete and maintain required production records, reports, checklists, and other documentation.
  • Help identify and implement opportunities to improve workflow, production efficiency, safety, quality, and employee performance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Support company initiatives and maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
