About The Position

The Distribution Foreman is responsible for leading daily warehouse and yard operations within our steel distribution facilities. This role sets the tone for safety, productivity, and team accountability on the floor. You will directly lead crews responsible for material handling, loading/unloading, and first-stage processing, while ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations. This is a hands-on leadership role. The Foreman is expected to be present, engaged, and actively guiding the team to meet operational goals while reinforcing our Core Values: Be Safe Always. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in steel distribution, warehouse, or industrial operations
  • Prior experience leading crews, shifts, or work teams strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of steel products and warehouse operations
  • Experience operating and overseeing cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret sales orders and shipping documents
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, direct, and hold teams accountable
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Solid math and problem-solving capability
  • Clear and professional communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and yard personnel to drive performance, accountability, and engagement
  • Set clear daily expectations and ensure crews are prepared, properly staffed, and aligned to priorities
  • Hold team members accountable for performance, behavior, and adherence to standards
  • Reinforce a culture of respect, urgency, and ownership across the team
  • Enforce all safety policies and ensure consistent use of required PPE
  • Lead pre-shift safety expectations and ensure equipment inspections are completed daily
  • Identify and escalate safety risks immediately; stop work when necessary
  • Oversee loading, unloading, and movement of steel products to meet customer delivery requirements
  • Ensure accuracy in material handling, order fulfillment, and inventory control
  • Coordinate with operations leadership to meet daily throughput and service targets in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure cranes and equipment are inspected and maintained
  • Report and track maintenance issues to minimize downtime
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
  • Support accurate processing and handling of steel products
  • Interact with customers and drivers in a professional, service-oriented manner
