About The Position

This position is assigned to the Fiscal Unit of the Sampson County Health Department. This unit is responsible for all fiscal activities with the agency to include budget, accounts payable, patient accounts receivable, eligibility determination for clients, encounter recording, internal audits and other various fiscal functions. The primary purpose of this position is to interview clients to determine financial eligibility and payer source; determine fees for services provided based on eligibility and collect payment; discuss payment plan in accordance with all local, state and federal guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles. This position is also responsible for accounts receivable maintenance for client accounts with third party insurance or Medicare payer source. As needed, this position will be required to interpret information regarding patients' needs. May include consent for care, screening, treatment, recommendations and instructions for follow-up and future appointments, in assigned area as well as within the Health Department, wherever is needed. Interprets as accurately and directly as possible, given the idiomatic differences between languages and keeps the spirit and letter of the original communication.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
One year of experience in interpreting and translating English in a setting that requires knowledge of programs and services.
Demonstrate interpreting fluency.
Demonstrate accurate translation skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and the target language.
Knowledge of ethical standards and practices in interpretation.
Good judgment and organizational skills.
Reading and ability to perform basic calculations.
Filing, alphabetically and chronologically.
