About The Position

LMC Footcare, part of LMC Healthcare, is seeking a Footcare Nurse to work as an independent contractor at their LMC Ottawa location. LMC Healthcare is Canada’s largest specialist care provider in diabetes, endocrinology & metabolism, with over 15 multi-disciplinary centres and 20 clinical research sites. LMC Footcare is committed to providing care and treatment for patients with simple to complex footcare concerns. This position offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary clinic alongside a group of Medical Specialists and skilled healthcare professionals, fostering an environment of professional growth. The role involves providing footcare both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Current unrestricted registration with your provincial or territorial nursing regulatory body.
  • Professional insurance coverage.
  • Certificate of completion in one or more of the following specialty areas: Advanced footcare, Diabetes education, Wound care, or Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC).
  • Competent and compliant foot care nurse as per current and relevant agency policies and procedures, provincial or federal legislation, regulations, professional standards and practice standards.
  • Adherence to Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN) National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada.
  • Adherence to Infection Prevention and Control Canada’s (IPAC Canada) guidelines, including ‘point-of-use sterility of critical, reprocessed foot care instruments for every client.’
  • Adherence to guidelines and standards within the scope of practice as defined by your provincial or territorial nursing regulatory body.
  • Adherence to privacy and confidentiality legislation.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a medical reprocessing course(s) such as PHO, Canadian Standards Association course “Reprocessing Foot Care Devices”, IPAC Canada, CDMR or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide footcare to patients.
  • Work independently as well as within a team to provide footcare.
  • Engage in ongoing yearly continuing education.
  • Adhere to current and relevant agency policies and procedures, provincial or federal legislation, regulations, professional standards, and practice standards, including those from the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN) and Infection Prevention and Control Canada (IPAC Canada).
