About The Position

This position assists in the development/coaching of the HCC Football team Defensive Line by performing all duties assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director to the best of their ability and in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver license and no major driving infractions in the past five years.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, community members, and employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Related experience and/or training desired.
  • Computer experiences desired.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and take part in the in-service training provided by the Athletic Director and Head Coach.
  • Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
  • Complete all Quality Control tasks as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Defensive Coordinator.
  • Attend practices, meetings, and professional development opportunities, as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Teach proper fundamentals, techniques, and skills involved with playing Defensive Line.
  • Assist the Defensive Coordinator with Game Plan duties, and assist with Special Teams duties as assigned.
  • Teach sportsmanship, accountability, discipline to HCC athletes and set an example of good moral and physical behavior.
  • Assume responsibility of assisting the head coach, under his/her supervision, in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist the Head Coach with recruiting activities.
  • Demonstrate loyalty, commitment and support for Highland Community College, the Athletic Department, and the growth and development of all students that the College serves.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to Coach own position and lead recruiting in your area assigned.
