About The Position

Bellingham Public Schools is seeking a Middle School Football Coach to plan, direct, and supervise all phases of the Football Program in accordance with MIAA, Tri-Valley League, Athletic Department, and School policies. The coach will oversee the physiological and skill development of student-athletes, aiming to develop each participant to their maximum potential. This role is directly responsible to the Athletic Director, in liaison with the High School Principal, and works under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach to ensure a consistent philosophy of skill development. The appointment is subject to sufficient participation and the coach may be required to drive students to athletic events when designated by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Dedication to the School, to the Student-Athlete and to the Athletic Program.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the sport and the ability to demonstrate and teach individual skills.
  • Ability to motivate the student-athlete to maximum potential.
  • Professional in appearance and actions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Football Coach.
  • Certification CPR, First Aid or the equivalent.
  • Employment as a member of the teaching staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and supervise all phases of the total Football Program in accordance with the MIAA, Tri-Valley League, Athletic Department and School policies.
  • Oversee the physiological and skill development of student-athletes in the program.
  • Develop each student participant to maximum potential in a program of skill, learning and improvements.
  • Organize, coach, and administer the Football Program in a manner consistent with its overall objectives.
  • Adhere to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
  • Follow the policies and procedures in the Athletic Department Staff Handbook.
  • Follow sound coaching practices in teaching all skills including aspects of health and safety.
  • Assume responsibility for equipment inventory.
  • Enforce disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior.
  • Provide input and guidance to the Head Coach.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or assigned area including the locker rooms.
  • Drive students to/from athletic events when designated by the Athletic Director and when 14 or fewer student-athletes are traveling with the team.
