Foot Care Nurse - RPN
About The Position
One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services. We are currently seeking a 0.5 FTE Foot Care Nurse - RPN, who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team, will provide foot care services and assist in the delivery of primary care services to the clients we serve with a strong emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion, education and empowerment. The part-time Foot Care Nurse will work 17.5 hours per week, a total of 35 hours for 2 weeks.
Requirements
- RPN with current College of Nurses of Ontario registration in good standing.
- Minimum two years of Foot Care Nurse experience.
- Certification in Basic and Advanced Foot Care is required to perform clinical activities according to the College of Nurses standards for nursing practice.
- Thorough knowledge and proficiency in current nursing procedures, nursing assessment, physical assessments and treatment measures.
- Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work both independently, and collaboratively, within interdisciplinary team environment.
- Experience working with electronic medical records.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Provide foot care services.
- Assist in the delivery of primary care services to clients.
- Emphasize disease prevention, health promotion, education, and empowerment.
- Utilize professional assessment skills to identify physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of clients.
- Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
