About The Position

Hormel Foods Corporation, a global branded food company with over $12 billion in annual revenue, is seeking an Entry Level Foodservice Sales Representative. This role is part of a campus recruiting initiative and offers the opportunity to work with beloved brands like PLANTERS®, SKIPPY®, SPAM®, and HORMEL® NATURAL CHOICE®. The company is recognized for its corporate responsibility and community service efforts. The Foodservice Sales Representative will be responsible for increasing sales by calling on existing customers and introducing new products, usage ideas, and merchandising strategies. The primary customers are foodservice distributors who then supply products to operators such as restaurants, hotels, and schools. This position involves indirect sales, working with major distributors like SYSCO and US Foods, and offers the potential to interact with hundreds of foodservice operators. New sales hires will undergo a comprehensive development program, including extensive training and multiple in-person seminars over the first 15 months, blending online learning with hands-on sales experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Professional Selling, Agribusiness, Business Administration, Hospitality, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or a related field.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
  • Must be comfortable with the preparation and consumption of a variety of Hormel Foods products, which may include but not limited to, pork, beef, chicken, and peanuts.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive for extended periods of time.
  • Must be open to relocation.

Responsibilities

  • Calling on a variety of existing customers with the objective of increasing sales for their area team.
  • Bringing new products, usage ideas, and merchandising ideas to operators.
  • Educating distributor personnel on why they should be selling Hormel products.
  • Increasing business by adding products to distribution and expanding the usage of existing Hormel Foods products.
  • Implementing marketing strategies for their products.
  • Receiving training on Hormel Foods products, selling techniques, and business planning.
