About The Position

The food system at the Waite House is designed to meet the nutritional needs of the highly diverse Phillips community. The system includes an urban farm, food shelf, and free community café. Waite House is part of Pillsbury United Communities, one of Minnesota’s most well established nonprofit organizations with 140 years of service to diverse communities across the Twin Cities and beyond. The Food System Internship is a 12-week paid learning opportunity for people ages 14-24 to explore their interests in agriculture and food service. Interns will assist with gardening, food distribution, and food service working with a variety of community members while developing their own workforce readiness skills.

  • Desire to learn and grow

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory management, distribution, and clean up at the food shelf
  • Plant, water, weed, and harvest crops in the community garden
  • Prepare, serve, clean up, and track snacks and meals served to youth
  • Engage youth and community members through positive one-on-one interaction
