About The Position

IOCP is a nonprofit that provides services in food, case management, emergency financial assistance, employment services, and childcare resources to those residing in our service area. We are looking for a part-time Food Shelf Experience Coordinator to provide a great experience to our guests who are visiting the food shelf and support to our volunteers. The Food Shelf Experience Coordinator works with a team to coordinate food shelf operations and deliver exceptional service to shoppers. This position helps IOCP guests move toward increased stability by meeting their basic needs and helping them to stretch tight budgets. Requirements

  • Experience providing exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working successfully with people from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds, low incomes, limited English, disability or other form of difference
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Commitment to serving our community with empathy and efficiency
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion and ability to excel in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Be a welcoming first point of contact for our guests visiting the food shelf
  • Facilitate guest access to food, including leading food shelf distribution shifts
  • Support, coach, and train volunteers throughout their food shelf shift as they assist guests shopping and/or merchandising
  • Embrace our goal of providing our guests a “dignified shopping experience, like a grocery store”
  • Support front desk operations by welcoming guests to our building, checking them in for food shelf appointments; support receptionist when needed
  • Monitor food shelf email and voicemail responding to our guests within 1 business day
  • Be ready to step into staff or volunteer roles where additional support is needed throughout the shift
