About The Position

Are you seeking an opportunity to join a Food Services team that makes a direct impact on those we serve? Apply to be a Food Service Associate? The Food Services team serves to assist with the successful operation of the Food Services Ministry while supporting the team members, guests, volunteers and local community through Christ-filled love and respect. The Food Services Associate will clean the dishes after the meals, assist with cleanup of the kitchen/dining room, and assist with prepping for meals as needed. Although the main function of this role is dishwashing, we serve in a variety of supportive roles to provide seamless processes for providing meals to our guests and the local community. Includes line plan, prepare and cook food items to ensure the highest quality service and experience. Volunteer coordinator, serve meals and ensure the kitchen, pantry and dining room are clean, safe and secure for each meal. Maintains the freezer and assist in planning and organizing special events. All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.

Ability to operate an industrial dishwasher; training provided
Able to follow instructions for Volume Cooking
Knowledge base of Kitchen Operation, Kitchen Equipment, and Food Safety.
Compliance with Food Safety & Service standards
Extensive periods of standing, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 50 pounds
Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and/or push or pull up to 100 pounds with assistance
Consistently - Communicating with others to exchange information; verbally and/or electronically
Frequent - Moving around to accomplish a task
Frequent– exposure to cleaning with general chemicals
Occasional computer use; computer screen exposure
