Food Service Worker (Part Time)

This role involves preparing, presenting, and serving food as needed. Essential duties include performing prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients, and carrying food items safely. You will also be responsible for storing food properly, cleaning work areas and equipment, distributing supplies, and utilizing approved recipes and production standards to ensure quality and portion control. Serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner, resolving concerns, and ensuring compliance with company service standards, inventory, cash control, sanitation, and safety requirements are also key aspects of this role. Please note that due to the nature of working in an educational facility, there may be periods when work is not required (e.g., winter and summer breaks), which may be unpaid and considered a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, year-round work, potentially at a different location during break periods, may be required.
Requirements
- Prior prep cook experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
- Weighs and measures designated ingredients.
- Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
- Stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
- Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils.
- Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
- Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
- Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
- Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor.
- Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
- Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
