About The Position

As part of the culinary team, the Food Service Worker performs a variety of food-service duties, including preparing, cooking, and serving food; cashiering; stocking; and cleaning. The role includes preparing items such as sandwiches, pizza, salads, and ice cream dishes according to standard formulas or directions, packaging orders, taking customer payments, setting up preparation areas, washing dishes, and cleaning dining areas. The worker is expected to provide resort hospitality and follow food-safety standards.

Requirements

• Basic education at the high-school level.
• Three months of guest-service experience in a restaurant, resort, private club, or tourism environment.
• Vermont Department of Liquor Control certification.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Maintain a neat appearance consistent with local Health Code standards.
• Ability to interact courteously and efficiently with customers and staff, including dealing effectively with impaired customers.
• Willingness to communicate consistently and positively with coworkers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of dining-room and bar operations, including table service, hosting, bartending, and cashiering.

Responsibilities

• Serve hot and/or cold food and beverages to customers.
• Set up and stock food-service or preparation areas at the beginning of the day or shift.
• Break down kitchen and dining-room areas at the end of the shift; take out trash, recycle and compost, and sweep and mop floors.
• Prepare sandwiches, pizzas, and other foods to order, including slicing ingredients, frying frozen items, toasting items, preparing condiments, and wrapping or arranging food for service.
• Perform cashier tasks and take customer payments.
• Package foods and arrange them on trays for service.
• Distribute food, beverages, and supplies to food-service outlets.
• Assist with ordering inventory, fill outlet orders, maintain records and files for inventory and deliveries, and load and unload food and supplies.
• Assist with other food-service and preparation tasks as assigned.
• Provide superior service to internal and external customers, follow resort etiquette and hospitality standards, and interact courteously and efficiently with guests and coworkers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
• Assist with dishwashing, organize and put away clean dishware, and maintain a clean work environment.
• Adhere to Killington's food-safety standards.
