About The Position

This is a part-time, day shift position at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, MI. The role involves ensuring safety and sanitation standards in food service areas, operating food preparation equipment, cleaning, and assisting with meal production and serving. The position also includes preparing travel meals, meals for students, and assisting with inventory. Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the school or department.

Requirements

• Possess the ability to demonstrate the necessary concepts of sanitation and food safety.
• Ability to serve and interact with the MLS students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a positive demeanor reflective of good customer service.

Nice To Haves

• May be asked to acquire ServSafe certification.
• Previous foodservice experience is beneficial, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that safety standards and sanitation procedures are observed and maintained in all food service areas.
• Operate various food preparation equipment such as grills, choppers, fryers, mixers, or blenders.
• Assist in the cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen, dining room, and equipment.
• Notify the Food Service Director when repairs to facilities and equipment are needed.
• Assist in the production and serving of meals.
• Prepare travel meals when necessary.
• Assist in preparation of meals for ill or otherwise absent students.
• Assist in the inventory process of the food, equipment, and other items within the department.
• Other duties as assigned, based upon the needs of the school or department.
