About The Position

Join the Patient Food Services team working out of qathet General Hospital to promote a safe and respectful working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff. As a Food Service Worker with VCH you will: Perform a variety of duties according to Food Safe protocols and quality and safety standards including: portioning and serving meals, assisting with food production by washing and peeling vegetables and fruit, preparing coffee/tea and toast, portioning desserts and assembling sandwiches and salads; preparing and portioning diet items in accordance with nutritional plans; and measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients by methods such as grinding, blending, slicing, dicing and/or puree. Checks patient/resident meals/trays to ensure dietary accuracy. Strip wagons/trays, wash dishes and pots, clean food wagons, kitchen equipment, fridges and storage areas and wipe down tables and counter areas. Sweep and damp mop floors and remove garbage. Deliver wagons/trays to patient/resident units. Retrieve and store food items. Replenish food, beverage and paper supplies. Perform related clerical duties. May operate a cash register and related equipment, receive payments and provide change for items purchased. Answers customer queries.

Requirements

  • Grade 10 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Food Safe Certificate Level 1
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment

Responsibilities
