About The Position

This is a Part Time (20-29 hours/week) position for a Food Service Worker. The role involves performing various simple manual tasks in the serving, food preparation, and dishwashing areas. Responsibilities include setting up serving counters, cleaning tables, preparing food items, washing dishes, cleaning equipment and work areas, and performing other related duties as assigned. The position requires adherence to safety regulations and prompt reporting of workplace hazards or incidents.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand written material and follow instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
  • Must be able to physically lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months’ experience in a food service facility.

Responsibilities

  • Set up glasses, silverware, butter, condiments, salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on serving counter as instructed.
  • Clean tables of paper, other trash, or soiled linens, and wipe tables with towel to remove crumbs or other food particles.
  • Remove soiled dishes from tables and transport them to the dishwashing area.
  • Cut, scrape, chop, dice, and peel fruits and vegetables.
  • Operate electric can opener, electric potato peeler, etc.
  • Separate food waste and trash.
  • Scrape and pre-rinse dishes with water to remove food particles before washing.
  • Load dishes in dishwasher; stack and store dishes.
  • Hand wash dishes, following prescribed steps.
  • Stack and store clean dishes.
  • Clean cooking and service equipment, such as ranges, ovens, electric or gas fryers, pressure cookers, steam kettles, and broilers.
  • Drain and clean coffee and tea urns.
  • Scrub and scour worktables.
  • Clean grease traps in sinks.
  • Remove garbage to collection points.
  • Clean woodwork, windows, and display counters.
  • Sweep, mop, and wax floors.
  • Polish dining area furniture.
  • Carry supplies between storeroom, kitchen and dining area and run errands.
  • Receive specific instructions for new tasks from supervisor, after which incumbent independently complete duties in the same way each time.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and standards.
  • Use required safety equipment and observe safe work procedures.
  • Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
