About The Position

Under the direction of the Culinary Events Manager, the Magical Forest Food Service Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled kitchen and cafeteria-related duties as assigned, in compliance with the policies and procedures of the State of Nevada Health Department and Opportunity Village. This is a seasonal position from approximately October 2026 to January 2027, supporting the Magical Forest and other seasonal events held by Opportunity Village. The role requires evening hours and weekend responsibilities, potentially including extended hours. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year verifiable work experience in the Food Service industry.
  • Southern Nevada Food Handlers Safety Training Card.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, individuals, OV team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other's reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Have a positive and enthusiastic outlook.
  • Self-directed, with strong ability to work independently, and to set and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to set priorities and follow through to completion of tasks, work well under pressure, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the Southern Nevada Health District policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide food service during Opportunity Village events, which may include food preparation, food service and delivery, setup and cleanup of food service areas, and dishwashing.
  • Restock, replenish, and update inventories as appropriate for short order area and fry stations.
  • Follow recipe guidelines and specifications.
  • Ensure sanitation and cleanliness meet Health Department standards.
  • Provide customer service to patrons of HallOVeen and the Magical Forest.
  • Report any safety or security issues to the Culinary Events Manager or OV Events team member.
  • Report any needed maintenance or items in need of repair to the Culinary Events Manager.
  • Set up and breakdown of chairs and tables may be required.
  • Potential for on-call banquet work outside of HallOVeen and Magical Forest operating hours, which includes serving, check-in registration, and setup and teardown before or after the event.
  • Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  • Assist and train volunteers assigned to concession areas of HallOVeen and the Magical Forest, if requested.
