About The Position

The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food service tasks, including meal assembly and delivery, dishwashing, and cleaning metalware. The role supports patients and customers by assembling and delivering meals, responding to requests, and maintaining clean work areas and equipment. This is a part-time position with a rotating shift at Trinity Health Livonia.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English and perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods, up to 100% of the workday.
• Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of work time.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff, other department personnel, and patients.
• Ability to work above the head and close to the ground; frequent walking and standing; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three to six months of on-the-job training or previous experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and clean the tray-line assembly area, including food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads, and beverages.
• Stock workstations with food, non-food items, and equipment as needed.
• Work at tray-line assembly stations and read tray tickets to provide the correct food items.
• Load trays onto delivery carts.
• Remove soiled serving trays from patient units and bus patient and customer serving trays.
• Operate elevators to deliver and pick up carts at patient care units and outpatient clinics.
• Take food service supplies to patient rooms and outpatient clinics as needed.
• Deliver meals to patients' bedsides and assist with needs, concerns, and requests.
• Use portable telephones to communicate and help ensure patients' needs are met.
• Operate the mechanical dishwasher, clean equipment and kitchen areas, and unload food from delivery carts.
• Clean and sanitize metalware, cooking pots and pans, utensils, and serving ware.
• Prepare simple foods such as sandwiches and salads when asked.
• Maintain records such as tray delivery and pickup schedules.
