About The Position

Whitsons is hiring a Food Service Worker for school nutrition at Pelham High School. The position supports the school community by preparing and serving meals to students and staff, including working at the Panini Station, and helping create a positive mealtime experience. The role is based primarily in a kitchen and food service production environment and works according to the facility’s food service schedule. The posting describes family-friendly hours, generally ending by mid-afternoon, with no regular nights or weekends; occasional extended hours may be required for special events or operational needs. The position may be full-time or part-time. The Team Member must complete required Whitsons and government-mandated training. Prior professional food service experience and ServSafe certification are preferred but not required. The role requires the ability to speak and read English well enough to understand assignments, follow recipes, and comply with safety requirements, as well as a positive, professional approach and the ability to work effectively on a team in a fast-paced kitchen.

Requirements

Complete all Whitsons and government-mandated training as required.
Speak and read English sufficiently to understand and perform job assignments, follow recipes, and comply with safety requirements.
Present a positive and professional image and work effectively as part of a food service team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Demonstrate reliability, attention to cleanliness and detail, and willingness to learn and follow food safety rules.
Be able to stand for most of the workday; frequently walk, talk, and hear; handle food, tools, and equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
Be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including while turning side to side.
Have close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of professional food service experience; preferred but not required.
ServSafe certification; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepare, portion, and serve meals to students and staff.
Work at the Panini Station.
Set up and clean serving stations and kitchen areas.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and applicable regulatory procedures.
Maintain accurate logs and documentation and comply with Whitsons policies.
Complete food preparation, service, and sanitation tasks accurately and on time, following portion and production standards.
Monitor temperatures and ensure stations are stocked, clean, and properly maintained throughout the service day.
Serve guests in a friendly, professional manner and maintain a welcoming, clean station.
Work cooperatively with the Chef Manager, Lead Cook, and fellow food service workers.
Follow assigned schedules and break rotations and maintain appropriate dress and hygiene standards.
