About The Position

This position performs all manner of commercial kitchen operations. The role involves a wide range of food preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning duties within a commercial kitchen environment. The Food Service Worker is responsible for ensuring workstations and equipment are clean and sanitized, preparing food according to recipes and safety standards, and interacting with customers. The role also includes maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including those related to foodborne illness prevention and accident reporting. Additionally, the position requires compliance with specific operational security, property control, and safety regulations, such as EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operates kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead foodstuffs.
  • Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods and properly stores food, understanding temperature requirements and spoilage.
  • Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment according to Sodexo, client, and regulatory rules.
  • Sets up stations with food items and utensils.
  • Performs general stocking duties in the service area.
  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables, and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
  • Uses a stepping stool as needed.
  • Brews coffee and tea.
  • Restocks beverage areas as required.
  • Works on a tray line to distribute food.
  • Interacts with customers in serving, retail, and dining areas.
  • Assists customers with opening containers and cutting food upon request.
  • Washes dishes by hand or using a dishwashing machine.
  • Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
  • Sweeps, mops, cleans, and vacuums floors.
  • Breaks down and stores food items at the end of each day’s final meal period.
  • Removes and moves trash and garbage from designated areas.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas.
  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Attends designated training programs (classroom and virtual).
  • Adheres to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operating procedures.
  • Adheres to the Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
  • Adheres to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and health requirements.
  • Maintains a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
