About The Position

Incumbents prepare regular and special meals for clients and staff in an institutional setting. This role involves preparing, cooking, and serving food while adhering to budgetary and quality assurance expectations, as well as meeting Federal, State, and County Health Department food service regulations and OSHA standards. A key aspect of this position is providing training and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who work and eat in the Cottage Café. The role also includes serving customers, managing the cash register, ensuring food is maintained at appropriate temperatures, and properly disposing of sensitive documents and outdated food. Additionally, the position requires maintaining inventory, cleaning and sterilizing areas and equipment, and upholding excellent customer service and work habits.

Requirements

  • A current Utah County Food Handlers permit and maintain certification.
  • One or more years of prior work experience in the food industry.
  • Prior experience working with the intellectually disabled.
  • This position requires you to be able to lift up to 50 pounds or 1/4 of your body weight, whichever is less with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, cooking and serving food without waste and to meet budgetary and quality assurance expectations.
  • Meeting required Federal, State, and County Health Department food service regulations and OSHA standards of health, safety and sanitation.
  • Providing training and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who work and eat in the Cottage Café.
  • Serving customers at the front counter by taking orders and running the cash register.
  • Ensures that food is maintained at appropriate temperatures. Covers and stores leftover food, records serving temperatures and leftover quantities.
  • Destroys or disposed of outdated, sensitive documents, blank warrants, expired food stamps, etc., in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity.
  • Cooks, bakes, or serves regular and/or special meals to clients and/or staff.
  • Coordinates an inventory management system to effectively control and distribute supplies and equipment.
  • Cleans, sterilizes and or disinfects areas and/or equipment.
  • Maintaining excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain exemplary work habits.
